The Forest Schools concept originated in Scandinavia. The approach was widely adopted in Denmark in the 1980’s as a solution to the lack of indoor facilities for pre-school children.
We at Bobo play & learn have introduced this new approach with the name of Nature learning. This is a child-centered inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supports risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
One of the prime objectives of forest schools is also to create a non-judgmental, nurturing, and safe environment, to enable learners to be more open to trying new activities and taking risks.
One of the key elements about forest schools is the liberty children and adults have in taking risks and making decisions. This supports learners to be more compassionate, embracing diversity and being responsible for their own actions and engaging in correct decision making.
Forest schools have an immense positive effect on the way children relate to each other and the world around them, which is described as values and understanding that facilitate cooperation within or among groups. This was evidently supported by Albert Einstein who in honor of forest school stated “look deep into nature, and then you’ll understand everything better”. we would like share a few pictures to second Einstein’s quote. Our children were so deeply engrossed in their own imagination world whilst creating these land art and even naming or relating it to something familiar or meaningful.
