Freeplay
Simply put, this is unstructured play that is chosen by the child and directed by the child, led by their own interests. The bulk of a child’s learning about and understanding of the world occurs through play. Studies show that this child-led learning often comes about with or side by side of other children and it is a bonus if the children are of a variety of ages as children can learn from each other at all stages. Unstructured or free play is almost always without adult interaction/direction though as adults, we observe this play to see the skills, concepts and interests which the children are engaging in.

If adults become involved, children often naturally want to please and acquiesce them. Unstructured play is therefore considered by experts to be the best way to help children develop social skills, confidence, dexterity, cognitive and physical abilities as well as build a better imagination and creativity though role play and interest-led play.
Free Play is considered a tool for developing a child as a whole. True free play involves any kind of unstructured activity that encourages children to use their imagination, such as playing with blocks, dolls, and toy cars. Therefore, at Bobo, children are free to choose to play with any of the toys / play equipment available to them.
